Former glamour model Katie Price, 38, has announced her plans to change daughter Princess’s surname from Andre to Price.
Ex-husband and Aussie crooner Peter Andre, 44, who is a doting father to children Junior, 11, and Princess, 9, has been on relatively good terms with his ex-wife. But this latest blow is sure to cause a rift between the celebrity pair.
Admitting to Star magazine that she “doesn’t think about what Pete thinks” about renaming Princess, this is the second time this week that Katie Price has hit the headlines for all the wrong reasons. In case you missed it, the somewhat dippy mum-of-five jetted off on holiday to the Maldives with her family last week, forced to leave daughter Princess and her expired passport behind at the airport.
Despite Katie’s follow up appearance on ITV’s Loose Women, where she explained that Princess simply “got on another plane with another airline the next day” to join the other children, the incident set tongues wagging online.
As for Princess herself, many social media followers have criticised Katie for letting her young daughter behave too much like an adult. The 9-year-old can regularly be seen wearing make-up and posing for glamorous shots on her mother’s Instagram page.

While some users deem the photos to be inappropriate for a girl of her age, Katie insists that it’s what her wannabe model daughter wants, and the name change is simply part of fulfilling Princess’s wishes:
“Princess is going to do her own make-up tutorials on Instagram soon”, said Katie. “Princess Price will be her stage name, not Andre.”
With Princess also set to launch her very own book later this year, Katie clearly isn’t concerned about what the public thinks of her parental decisions. But some critics have argued that she should be more respectful to the father of her children.
Is Katie making the right decision by supporting her daughter’s ambitions? Or is this a step too far?
