Here is our list of the top five controversial Little Mix moments…
Recently getting their manicured hands on the 2017 Brit Award trophy for Best British Single with chart-topping girl power breakup anthem ‘Shout Out To My Ex’, saucy songbirds Little Mix are showing no signs of slowing down.
Our homegrown pop princesses have always been a winning combination, having been crowned 2011 X Factor champions shortly before the show descended into a laugh-along prime time slot for washed-up crooners with oh-so-tragic backstories, Waitrose shoppers with dreams of being the next Jay-Z, and anyone else who just didn’t have the balls to audition at their school talent show.
But despite their chart success, band members Perrie Edwards, Jesy Nelson, Leigh-Anne Pinnock and Jade Thirlwall haven’t gone without their fair share of media storms. Here’s our rundown of the Top 5 most controversial Little Mix moments…
Spicing up our Sunday Brunch, Little Mix’s TV appearance caused quite the stir when they all turned up a little worse for wear, having been out on the town the night before.
Jesy was given the particularly tricky task of slicing a baguette in half, and it’s safe to say the poor girl made a right meal out of it.
Fellow band member Jade could barely contain her laughter as she watched on, but stuffy viewers were less than amused and took to Twitter to blast the girl group, with one user tweeting: “Painful TV”, suggesting that it would have been “sensible for Little Mix to cancel”.
Luckily, the girls managed to pull it together to nail a spine-tingling acoustic performance, so we’ll let them off the hook this time. Be honest, half of us couldn’t even make it out of bed after an all-nighter at Revs.
If watching a bunch of absolute muppets getting their bums inked on Tattoo Fixers every week has taught us anything, it’s this: one, getting tattooed on a lads holiday to Magaluf is a terrible idea. And two, you should never EVER get a tattoo for your partner.
Breaking rule number 2 with reckless abandon, Jesy has a large tattoo tribute to Rixton lead singer and ex-fiancé Jake Roche on her arm. ‘Once Upon A Time’ refers to the romantic fairytale bedtime stories Roche used to tell her before she fell asleep.
The couple broke off their engagement at the end of 2016, but the tattoo remains as a permanent reminder of Roche and their failed relationship. Awks.
A number one single deserves a professionally edited music video, right? Wrong. Eagle-eyed fans were quick to spot something a little out of place in the band’s video for ‘Shout Out To My Ex’.
In the video, the sassy foursome are seen parading around in front of some bright horizontal striped walls, but when the shot focuses on Jesy, some of the stripes behind her look bent and misshapen, indicating that the star’s body had been photoshopped to look slimmer.
As expected, furious fans took to their keyboards to call out the video editors:
@LittleMix @Vevo_UK when you guys didn’t photoshop jesy’s body to be smaller because she’s perfect the way she is… oh wait
— anna (@hesthirIs) January 24, 2017
it’s awful to know that someone actually decided to photoshop jesy’s body

Jesy is as perfect as the other girls, but I don’t understand why they still photoshop her…Looks like there’s an aura on her in #TouchVideo pic.twitter.com/PRLwfvsgT7

The team behind the video are yet to respond to the claims. Whether or not the video has been edited, it raises important issues about body image. Jesy’s physical appearance has long been a topic of discussion on social media, but with most recent photos showing off her newly toned physique, she has since silenced her critics. No Photoshopped abs here!
Never ones to shy away from flashing the flesh, Little Mix have undergone quite the transformation since their first appearance on X Factor as squeaky clean hopefuls.
To mark their return to the show that launched their careers, they had no problem turning up the heat. Performing their latest single ‘Touch’, the girls left little to the imagination, proudly flaunting their assets as they gyrated around the stage wearing nothing but skin-tight leotards.
Fierce or too full on? Their raunchy outfits divided opinions, with some viewers slating the band for looking too sexually provocative and not setting a good example to their younger fans. But others took to social media to praise the girls for their bold display of female body confidence. Either way, the group tore the roof off with a vocal-perfect performance.
It had to be number 1. We’re still talking about it now! Who could forget ex-One Direction bad boy Zayn Malik dumping fiancée Perrie via text?
It was only a matter of time before the blonde bombshell got her own back. Delivering the ultimate middle finger, Perrie slammed Zayn’s apparent lack of bedroom talent in their Brit Award-winning pop hit ‘Shout Out To My Ex’, which beat Zayn’s solo single ‘Pillowtalk’ to claim the prestigious prize. Shots fired.
Whilst Mr Malik seems to be M.I.A from the celeb scene – possibly shamefaced and hiding from the world – Perrie is now happily sporting a new piece of arm candy in the shape of hunky Arsenal winger Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, proving that she’s well and truly over her ex.
Little Mix may well be music mogul Simon Cowell’s prize cash cow, but we have to admit – we like them. They seem like a very genuine, down to earth bunch of girls who just want to have fun. They can sing, they push boundaries to challenge their critics, and they clearly don’t give a rat’s ass about what anyone thinks. And with their album ‘Glory Days’ being the longest running number 1 girl group album of the millennium, their musical success is nothing to be sniffed at either. Hats off to them!
