Casino Refuses $62 Million Slots Win

austrian_slots_winner_denied_money.jpgA Swiss gentleman, Behar Merlaku, 26, was playing slots at the Bregenz Casino in Austria when to his joy and surprise he won the big jackpot. The slot machine showed he had won $62 million, but Mr Merlaku’s joy soon turned to anguish as he was approached by two casino workers and told the jackpot was a computer malfunction and he hadn’t won at all!

Poor Mr Merlaku, can you imagine the pain of being so close to that elusive slots jackpot.

Mr Merlaku is reported to have said, “When I won I was ecstatic and of course I relied upon it being a real jackpot which it was. I saw it on the screen. But then the disappointment came when two casino workers came to me and said there was a software error. They took me for a fool, which I am not. I’ve played in many casinos and I know the way the cookie crumbles. It doesn’t concern me if they have a software problem.”

Officials at the casino have acknowledged that the slot machine actually displayed the huge jackpot, but have put the whole thing down to a computer error; a faulty display and the fact a casino worker had accidentally manipulated the jackpot.

Quite rightly Mr Merlaku has taken his dispute to the courts and they will decide if Mr Merlaku has a right to his jackpot or if he should be paid compensation for the distress this whole ordeal has caused him and his family.

Mr Merlaku had one final statement, “I will fight for this until my death. It is outrageous what they have done to me and my family. I want to spread what happened to me all over Europe. I don’t accept it.”

Let hope Mr Merlaku gets justice, it’s a very unusual situation but we’d love to hear from you if you’ve experience anything like this before. Simply email your story to
